User Identification
Members of the Duquesne University community must present valid university
identification cards to borrow material(s). Holders
of valid Allegheny County Law Library
cards must present them to borrow Center material(s).
What Circulates at DCLI?
In general everything in the Center circulates except for
the following locations/ material types. The status
column in SOLCAT for
non-circulating materials says LIB USE ONLY. Please ask
at the Circulation Desk if you have questions.

Checking Out Books
Please bring the desired materials to the Circulation
Desk for check out. Proper ID
is required. The Circulation Desk is located at the
entrance to the Center on the second floor. Students
and Allegheny County Law Library card holders have the
privilege of checking out books from DCLI and ACLL. A
total of fifteen (15) items may be checked out at a time
with a maximum of seven (7) ACLL items at a time. DCLI
materials circulate to students and ACLL card holders for
two (2) weeks and may be renewed once.
Reserve Materials
Reserve materials generally consist of materials placed
by faculty members for the use of students in a particular
class. Additionally, Pennsylvania Bar Institute titles,
Restatements of the Law, Nutshells, and Hornbooks are held
as reserve materials. Materials
on reserve may be checked out for a period of two (2) hours
only. Proper ID is required.

Past Exams
The Center holds a limited number of past exams for various
subject areas. The exams held
are at the complete discretion of law school faculty members. Exams
may be checked out for a period of two (2) hours only. Proper
ID is required.
Overdue Notices
Fines are 50¢ per item/per day for overdue materials. Fines
for overdue reserve materials are 50¢ per item/per
day. An overdue notice will be
sent the first day after an item becomes overdue. A
second overdue notice will be generated seven days from
the day the first overdue notice was sent. If an
item is overdue for more than 21 days, a replacement
bill will be generated. Please notify the Circulation
Desk immediately if you have lost materials. The
replacement bill will include the following costs:
If a title is returned after a replacement bill has been generated,
the fine charged will be whichever fee is larger, the accumulated
fines or the replacement bill service charge.
