Use of the Center
The Center is open to the Duquesne community
and the public at large. However, borrowing privileges
are only extended to those with current and validated
Duquesne ID cards or those with valid Allegheny County
Law Library cards. Although the Center is open to everyone
to conduct legal research, the Center is not to be
used for general study purposes by non-law students. All
non-law students must sign-in upon entering the Center.
Eating, Drinking, and Smoking
Patrons are allowed to bring in drinks
in spill-proof containers or bottles. Open cans
or food of any type are not permitted. Water
fountains are available on all floors of the Center. The
entire Law School building is a non-smoking facility,
including the Center.
Group Study Rooms
There are ten study rooms
available for group study purposes. These rooms are
available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Keys
are signed out at the Circulation Desk only to current
Duquesne law students with valid DU id cards. Students
may use these rooms, for group study only, in blocks
of two hours (with one renewal). The rooms may also
be reserved up to one day in advance, by filling out
the study room sheet kept at the Circulation Desk or
by calling 412-396-5017. Computers are available in
all group study rooms, except 134. TV/VCR units are
available in rooms G10, G11, and G12.
Cell/Mobile Phones
The use of cell/mobile phones and pagers
is not permitted in the Center. All
cell phones and pagers must be turned off or set on
vibrating mode upon entering the Center. These
devices may not be plugged into any of the Center's
electrical outlets.
Borrowing Privileges
Borrowing privileges are extended to
all individuals with a current Duquesne University
identification card and those with a valid Allegheny
County Law Library card. What materials are allowed
to circulate varies slightly between the Duquesne and
Allegheny County facilities. Please
consult the DCLI
Circulation Policy for more information.
Computer Usage
The Center's computers are for the exclusive
use of current Duquesne law students, faculty and staff. Undergraduate
students are not permitted to use DCLI computers. Allegheny
County Law Library card holders, attorneys, and members
of the general public utilizing electronic U.S. Government
Documents and other select databases may be restricted
to dedicated terminals. Priority access will
be granted to law students.
Library Telephones

personal calls except in case of an emergency or with
the permission of a library staff member.
