Software Installation

Securexam Student Installation


Windows Installation

1. Perform Preliminary Computer Maintenance

Students are strongly encouraged to perform the following maintenance on their computers prior to installing the Securexam Student software:

  • Ensure that the computer meets the minimum requirements.
  • Ensure that the latest virus software updates and definitions are installed and have been run.
  • Ensure that the latest High Priority updates for Microsoft Windows have been installed.
  • Ensure that the computer’s hard disk is working properly by performing hard disk optimization or defragmentation check.

The maintenance outlined above will help ensure that the computer is in good general working order. It will also help prevent any problems while you are taking an exam.  Please do not skip the computer maintenance steps.

2.  Remove previous versions of Securexam Student

Uninstall any previous version of Securexam Student from your laptop.

3.  Download the software [if you have not already]

If you have not already downloaded the software, please follow instruction on PlanetSSI – Software Download page.

4.  Installation

When you download the software, it is saved in a ZIP file and you have to unzip it. Navigate to where you saved the unzipped files and locate the SecurexamStudentInstaller.exe file.

Double-click the SecurexamStudentInstaller.exe file to start the installation and follow the installation setup wizard’s instructions to install Securexam Student.

NOTE: If Microsoft .NET 2.0 Framework is not already installed on your Windows XP laptop (It is part of Windows Vista), it will be downloaded and installed first.

When the installation is finished, you will see two new icons on your desktop:

 Securexam Student v6.  You will use this icon to take exams.

Securexam Transfer Utility.  Use this utility in case if you have a problem uploading your finished exam to PlanetSSI.


Mac Installation

1. Perform Preliminary Computer Maintenance

Students are strongly encouraged to perform the following maintenance on their computers prior to installing the Securexam:

  • Ensure that the computer meets the minimum requirements.
  • Ensure that the latest virus software updates and definitions are installed and have been run.
  • Ensure that the latest updates for Mac OS have been installed.  Updates can be found by selecting the “Software Update” command on the Apple menu.
  • Ensure that the computer’s hard disk is working properly by performing hard disk optimization or defragmentation.

The maintenance outlined above will help ensure that the computer is in good general working order. It will also help prevent any problems while you are taking an exam.  Please do not skip the computer maintenance steps.

2.  Remove previous versions of Securexam Student

3.  Download the software [if you have not already]

If you have not already downloaded the software, please follow the instructions on the PlanetSSI – Software Download page.

4.  Installation

When you download the software, it is will be saved as a DMG (Disk Image) on your desktop.

  1. Open the DMG (Disk Image) file if your web browser did not automatically open it.
  2. Double-click the PKG (Package) file.
  3. On the Introduction screen, click “Continue."
  4. On the Select Destination screen, select your hard drive and click OK.
  5. On the Installation Type screen, click “Install."
  6. On the Authenticate window, enter your password and click OK.
  7. You will receive a message that your laptop must be restarted when the installation is done. Click “Continue Installation."
  8. On the Finish Up screen, click “Restart."
